I retired from personal blogging in July 2008.
But you can find me over at http://blog.xero.com.

Is it just me or has Gmail just changed? Seems to be more ajaxy, pop up stuff going on with contacts etc.
What else does it do?

Mine still looks the same - and I’m set to English (US) and automatically run with latest versions
Got a screen shot?
Not of my mail :)
Are you using google apps Rod? I understand they’ve pushed the latest updates to Apps users in the last few days.

Yeah, it changed a while ago but its only recently been moved to Google Apps (if thats what you’re using). Labels can now be coloured & the contacts shortcut stuff is nicer.
The gmail team has a blog at http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/
If you talking about normal gmail view, you can swap back to the older UI by placing ui=1 on the URL eg http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1
The new ui is value 2, this can also be archived by pressing…. oh it seams that ui=2 is no longer an option…. maybe I was a beta tester, anyway I didn’t like it myself, and stuck with ui=1
Have you by any chance only just switched to Safari 3 (or 3.1)? That causes gmail to give Safari some more stuff that Firefox had for a while already.
changing the language to US english worked for me
Gmail can now be easily mapped to your own domain via Google Apps. Good riddance Outlook.
And finally Chat works in Safari
Is it just me or is anyone else seeing some odd behavior with Gmail now they’ve applied the latest safari update?
Specifically, randomly shifting focus away from the main email body field.
