I retired from personal blogging in July 2008.
But you can find me over at http://blog.xero.com.

With kids, windsurfing has taken a back seat for the past couple of years. This shot of Troy (aged 40) at Plimmy shows the reason that many of us have lived in Wellington for the past many years and gets me excited about October. Just a great shot.
Troy Purcell, Plimmerton, Wellington, New Zealand

jealous jealous - my brother used to live in Airlie Road and I paddled out to Mana a couple of times with him
Did I mention that I miss Wellington - god I sound like a Don McGlashen song…..
Ah, I know the feeling. Having a little nipper around has put a dent in the time I’m able to spend out there too.
Airlie rd is pictoresque, we often take it.
I’ll vote for the next America’s cup to be held in Paremata!
Note also Tony Rule (http://darule.blogspot.com/) of Spikefin heritage is a windsurfing nut, although he’s more racing than tricks. Because I sail rather than Windsurf I don’t get cool pictures :)
Awesome indeed, Got to get me some of that, I’ve only ever windsurfed up in quiet thai islands, its time to take a beating and learn for real in the home of wind. This is the way to look at winter.
Wellington also offers surfing on a quite different kind of wave:

Note the leading edge of the lenticular cloud stretching past Titahi Bay and on to Makara and Cape Terawhiti in the distance. That’s wave.
Or for more action, around Wellington (Paraparaumu and Masterton) and Omarama see:

Beautiful. In a similar situation to Anton.
Plimmerton (sigh), well my kid is now grown up so I should start going back to Plimmy. But don’t forget that there are other places where you can windsurf from the doorstep in Wellington too (ie Eastbourne) - some of these shots are Eastbourne, the rest are Taranaki.

Aged 40, in itallics no less!!! I don’t intend to reach my windsurfing peak until well past that age. A little respect for those of us born in ‘67 or earlier!
