What if apple did a phone
Posted by rod@drury.net.nz in Apple at 5:51 am on Wednesday, 10 January 2007

OMG! The demo’s of the iPhone interface are stunning.

They have actually thought about Interaction Design. It just shows you what crap we have been putting up with from the carriers and handheld providers. Nokia and Ericsson should be ashamed. The Microsoft Mobile team will be jumping out of Windows (lucky Redmond is low-rise).

On attempt one, Apple have just slam dunked the phone interface. And as its all software they can easily make updates.

The Safari Browser on the mobile credibly brings the Internet to a Mobile Device. Adding Google Maps makes this the essential tool.

This is significant! Consumer expectations are forever changed.

I’ve just brought APPL. Apple just won.

Next question is to what extent will winning the Phone pull through Mac sales? That is the big question analysts will be asking.

Andy I hope your driving down to the store getting me one now.

I dont know about it being attempt one.
Anyone remeber the colloboration with motorola RAZR.
From what I heard it wasn’t too good, but I guess they have learn’t from the experience.

There were even conspiricy rumors that Apple wanted itunes on a mobile (RAZR) to fail so that they could do their own.

    $0.02 over.

Too bad we won’t see this phone in New Zealand (at least fully supported by the network) until at least 2008; assuming we fall into the “Asia” category for rollout, and based on how long it took for iTMS to be available here. And I’m still hanging out to be able to print a nice photo album from iPhoto! One of the challenges, moving forward, for a company like Apple is not so much about coming up with great products, but about ensuring they work fully and are available in every corner of the globe.
