I retired from personal blogging in July 2008.
But you can find me over at http://blog.xero.com.
I’m always keen to meet new people that love technology so please make contact. (Sometimes I’m a bit flat out so can’t respond as quick as I’d like.)
If you want to build a relationship, comment on my blog. Flick me a link to yours, or show me something cool you’re doing.
I believe that people are an investment so will always try to find a way to work with smart passionate people or get them into the network someway. I’m especially proud of the many staff we’ve had through the team over the past 15 or so years. Please don’t hesitate to make contact again.

[...] You may have noticed I’m looking hard for staff. I’m betting in these areas. I’m going to focus on one particular product but I’m also actively investing in tech start ups to build up a number of small teams to see where they go. Hopefully this will give the next generation of Entrepreneurs a jump start. You’ll see these surface over the next few months. [...]
There is nothing more exciting than being around people who are bringing new ideas and business concepts to market.
I have worked for many years in one of the biggest companies in one of the largest industries in the world…Oil. However in all my time I have never experienced the generous sharing and enthusiasm I have felt since returning to Wellington from London and beginning the journey of immersing in the new paradigm of dymanic business development which is so apparent here…
To begin to understand some of the businesses and to realise that my own ideas, far from being strange and unrealistic, are actually credible, is a great boost.
Once I began to interact with people who share a desire to do things so much better than in the past, and who have the imagination to envisage a world where technologies are as invisable and painless yet as critcal as oxygen is a fantastic feeling.
I can’t think of anything more exciting than being involved in the development of new businesses, particularly where they have global application but leverage a uniquely NZ view of the world.
If New Zealand is a brand, then start-ups which focus on Clean Green, Health and Fitness, Sports and Performance Recreation should be at the forefront of our efforts.
I know of a few of these happening in Wellington already and I will be doing my best to ensure they get the best possible chance of succcess. I can’t wait to share them with you and your fellow Bloggers…Cheers, Gavin
Hi,
I’m a french engineer in fifth year of studies in a computer science engineer school.
At the end of this school year, I have to do an traineeship in a computer science company.
Two years ago, I did a langage course in Malta for one month, and during the last summer, I did an internship in Ireland for three months, so I want to follow improving my english.
That is why, I want to know if you would offered a development job in New Zealand from four to six months from March 2007.
Waiting for an answer
Regards
PS : If you want to see what I have done during my internship in Dublin, you can see this page :

Hi Rod,
Just wondering if you are available timewise to mentor a new startup at all?
We are just creating a TXT app and are looking for a mentor to help us mould and shape what we are doing so we get the started right, and underway in a smart fashion.
You have an awesome history, and lots of experience, so having your input and mentorship would be invaluable.
Cheers,
Sam Allen
