Microsoft Announces SQL Server Workgroup.
Even better news, SQL Standard edition allows unlimited memory. SQL 2000 Standard is limited to 2 GB, which seemed like a lot in the year 2000, but is almost entry level now. This caused concern as to take advantage of more memory required flipping to the way more expensive Enterprise version.
The announcement details SQL Server 2000 workgroup as well which looks like SQL 2000 Standard but there is no detail on whether SQL Server 2000 Standard is free of the memory limitation in SQL 2005.
If this is not the case then, this will definately drive upgrades from SQL 2000 Standard to SQL 2005 Standard.
Addition of log shipping is also great news.
